Session Abstract (150 words):

The world is changing and the need for evidence-based decision-making from those in power has never been greater, but how do we as evaluators champion this in an era which ‘fake news’, ‘gut-feeling’ and political dogma can seem to be driving political agendas? How do we as evaluators shape these debates and lead from the front to champion the needs of marginalised communities and ensure that funding decisions are based on robust and credible evidence?

Itad, a UK consultancy with 100+ staff, has created a new evaluator competency framework to build leadership skills and equip evaluators to be able to design and lead evaluations that put the interests of beneficiaries at their heart, and provide the independent, credible evidence to enable effective decision-making across donors, funders and implementers. This ignite session provides an overview of this framework and sparks debate around what makes a great evaluator in this changing world.
