Session Abstract (150 words):
This roundtable session will explore the challenges, and the incredible importance, of engaging opportunity youth in mixed methods evaluation. Opportunity youth are young people ages 14-24 who are either homeless, in foster care, involved in the juvenile justice system, or otherwise disconnected from school and work. In this session, panelists will share their experiences working in, and with, community-based programs that serve opportunity youth, including the evaluation design, methodologies, and how young people have been engaged. Inviting the audience into the discussion, panelists will share strategies they have used to build trust with opportunity youth and community-based programs and to form authentic partnerships that benefit opportunity youth.
