Session Abstract (150 words):

Evaluators generally agree on the benefits of including youth in program evaluation activities, however, there is little empirical research on how exactly to achieve this inclusion. The facilitators of this roundtable contend that Patton’s Principles-Focused Evaluation and Cousins' and Shulha’s Principles for Collaborative Approaches to Evaluation (CAE) offer strategies for how evaluators can include youth in program evaluation activities. In this roundtable, Principles-Focused Evaluation and CAE will be discussed in relation to providing opportunities, as well as challenges for involving youth in program evaluation activities. Participants in this roundtable will join in discussions about the utility of these approaches for involving youth in program evaluation and the possibility of using these approaches in combination with one another, in order to empower youth
