Session Abstract (150 words): 

This think tank proposal seeks to address the challenges of designing and conducting evaluation of team science. Team science is broadly defined as collaborative learning and problem solving that yields products that cannot be reduced to a single team member. Team science occurs in many spaces that often require evaluation efforts, such as classroom learning or coordinated research. The nature of team science involves properties that define complex systems, including dynamic behavior and emergent group-level outcomes that cannot be reduced to a single individual. This think tank session will utilize a jigsaw method where small groups will tackle these questions: (a) What are useful outcomes for measuring team effectiveness and how are they operationalized at the group level? (b) How can changes in team membership and relationships amongst team members be evaluated? (c) What types of methods might be most productive for evaluators to apply to team science programs?

For Evaluation 2018, international attendees and presenters who encounter complications due to the international travel environment will have up to 30 days after the event to request a refund and submit appropriate documentation. No administrative fee will apply for the international requests.
