Session Abstract (150 words):

Building resilience of individuals, families and communities is one of the major stated objectives of development interventions especially in areas where violence and conflicts are chronically prevalent. Different strategies and interventions have been designed and implemented to address the problem, however, measuring results accurately and reliably remains challenging. The birds of feather gathering will generate the discussion on different approaches that M&E practitioners are using in the field to measure the power of youth. The power of youth when it comes to being able to withstand and mitigate the risks in their environments but also transform rules, roles, and responsibilities within societal system. The discussion will focus mainly on preventing youth at risk of joining gangs, violent extremist organizations, and will encourage participants share their experiences on participatory youth engagement and empowerment interventions.
