Session Abstract (150 words):
The skills and competencies of adult allies (i.e. youth workers) is key to the successful implementation of youth programs and initiatives, particularly those designed to foster young people’s abilities to create change in their local communities. Given the importance and relevance of adult allies in these initiatives, it is necessary to have tools and resources available for assessing their core competencies. Some of the most popular forms of assessment are observations (e.g. the Youth Program Quality Assessment tool). However, evaluators are at times limited by time and travel – particularly when the initiative is a statewide endeavor - making direct observations challenging or impossible. The purpose of this session is to discuss approaches and tools to assess the knowledge, skills and attitudes of adult allies dedicated to fostering community change agents when direct observations are not feasible.

For Evaluation 2018, international attendees and presenters who encounter complications due to the international travel environment will have up to 30 days after the event to request a refund and submit appropriate documentation.
