Session Abstract (150 words):

Organizations working on social change tackle complex problems that entail challenging team dynamics, where collaboration and transparency are essential. Slack is a widely used web and cloud-based application that functions like a chatroom or message board with the intention of strengthening teamwork. When used effectively, Slack is a platform that can foster organized yet decentralized conversation and decision-making that has the potential to increase transparency, raise the level of understanding of different aspects of the organization’s work, and build cross-team collaboration. This Ignite presentation will show how one international nongovernmental organization working on sexual and reproductive health and rights evaluated its internal use of Slack. It will offer strategies for designing your own Slack evaluation and practical recommendations for implementing and adapting Slack as a tool for internal communication and collaboration at your organization.
