Session Abstract (150 words):

Eleanor Chelimsky once described speaking truth to power as a “risky and often painful task”. To do so requires that we understand voice, perspective, context, and, most importantly, power – the very elements that are the focus of systems thinking. If we as evaluators are to embrace speaking truth to power, does it become incumbent on us to embrace systems thinking in our evaluation practice? How? In this think tank, we will engage in a process of structured dialogue to explore what it means for evaluation to speak truth to power, the assumptions we have or need to have when doing so, and the role for systems thinking to support speaking truth to power.
