Session Abstract (150 words):

This session explores the question of youth program quality programming and measurement in community-based programs. We highlight challenges practitioners face such as (1) limited resources to observe programs on quality, (2) limited understanding about the importance of program evaluation, and (3) assessing quality in groups with varying contexts. This session will use small groups to explore discussion points such as:

  1. What are the elements of quality that should be monitored?
  2. What are approaches to measuring quality?
  3. What are the limitations to measuring program quality?
  4. How do we motivate practitioners with limited capacity to measure program quality?
  5. How do we build in time and space for reflection on program quality?

The large group will reconvene to discuss the above points. We will end the think tank with time for creating a constructive action plan for moving the field forward on measuring program quality.
