Session Abstract (150 words):
Focused on supporting and amplifying the voices of under-resourced youth through writing and creativity, the 826 Network is uniquely positioned in its ability to enable students to “speak truth to power”. This session focuses on exploring the question of how to best evaluate youth writing, building and expanding upon current efforts, which have included social-emotional and academic skill measurement. Through adopting key stakeholder perspectives, attendees will explore this question and engage in shared learning with the larger group. Our conversation will seek to increase our collective understanding about the best evaluation measures, processes, and methods to achieve our programmatic goals while honoring youth voice.
