Session Abstract (150 words): 

Organizations contract with third-party evaluators for various reasons. Whether internal capacity for in-depth evaluation is lacking, or organizations seek the objective outlook that third-party evaluators provide, organizations with internal evaluation shops often continue to engage in third party evaluations. In these instances, the proper role of internal evaluation staff is often unclear.

The Research and Evaluation Team of The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services’ Prevention and Early Intervention Division has found through experience that internal evaluators can often serve as mediators between those tasked with administering programs and third-party evaluators. Internal evaluators can work with program and evaluators to instill practices of utilization-focused evaluation into the process so that everyone is aware of evaluation needs, audiences, and uses from the outset. Representatives will share lessons learned from serving as a mediator between evaluators and program, and walk-through an evaluation initiation toolkit developed by the Team.

All refunds are processed after the meeting. After October 8, 2018 all sales are final. For Evaluation 2018, international attendees and presenters who encounter complications due to the international travel environment will have up to 30 days after the event to request a refund and submit appropriate documentation. No administrative fee will apply for the international requests.
