Session Abstract (150 words): 

Research demonstrates higher error rates in the data when limited data validation techniques are used.  Unfortunately, internal evaluators are often held to strict deadlines and have limited resources relative to external evaluators and academic researchers.  Given the constraints of internal evaluation and importance of data integrity,  in our presentation, we will be covering (1) data validation in Microsoft Excel and (2) data collection, validation, and set-up in the online survey program RedCap.  We will provide an example dataset to the participants and walk them through both points giving them hands-on experience.  With these new skills, internal evaluators will have a more consistent data entry protocol leading to decreases in the amount of time internal evaluators spend on data collection and validation by automating these processes.  We anticipate that after this presentation, internal evaluators will immediately be able to use these skills to streamline the data collection and validation process.
