Session Abstract (150 words):

Selecting the right metrics can be a lot like parenting. It takes time and patience. There isn’t one perfect formula, and it will likely evolve over time. Even still, failing to select the right mix of metrics can leave an organization’s leadership- the ‘parents’- feeling powerless. We believe combining social and business metrics helps organizations, including impact investors, gain unique insights to solve key business challenges while communicating impact evidence.  During this Think Tank, the William Davidson Institute (WDI) will orient attendees to this major issue faced by many organizations and share tips to make the process easier. Then, after sharing examples of social + business metric combinations WDI has used, participants will contribute to a lively discussion about how to successfully create social + business “power couples” to inform organizational strategy, accountability, and decision-making.
