Session Abstract (150 words):
I as evaluator and the manager of a non-profit funding art and music activities for kids in hospitals want to exchange information on impact measurement of such activities. We have done a literature search, aided by medical experts, but may have missed some sources in this inherently multidisciplinary area. We can also offer new guidelines on evaluating the quality of evidence, and our analysis of attribution/contribution issues. The non-profit sponsors: art supplies; artists/musicians in residence (e.g. beat boxing, claymation, graffiti art) and events to celebrate patients’ creations. Contributions are distinct from but dependent on child life specialists’ (CLSs’) and art/music therapists’ work. Of interest is impact on the patients, families, staff, hospitals’ popularity and funding, and community. Impact studies of other populations in other settings may also be transferable. The challenge is to shed light on key ingredients of the most successful programs of this type.

No administrative fee will apply for the international requests. The $50 fee will be waived for registrants who planned to travel into the US and experienced international travel issues.
