Session Abstract (150 words):

This roundtable will explore how to increase learning from evaluations, through three short presentations and discussion among participants and audience members. International development projects face the challenge of demonstrating results, but at times the results don’t appear as expected in the evaluation. In such situations, either the project or the evaluation may be judged to be unsuccessful.  Once an evaluation is completed and the results disseminated, it generally is not used again. Nonetheless, both individual evaluations and sets of seemingly unrelated evaluations can spur learning and adaptation long after they are finished. The roundtable participants and audience members will reflect on three experiences of how completed evaluations can be dusted off and put to new use, and how to use sets of evaluations to increase learning about issues and topics that were not specifically included in any single evaluation.
