Session Abstract (150 words):

Outcome Harvesting is an increasingly popular evaluation approach to evaluating interventions in complex situations, where the consequences of an intervention cannot be fully identified beforehand. Such interventions have both anticipated and unanticipated consequences and thus lend themselves to the application of ideas drawn from the systems/complexity field; needing to understand inter-relationships, engage with multiple perspectives and make difficult choices about an intervention and its evaluation's boundaries.

The application of systems ideas to Outcome Harvesting was the subject of discussion on an evaluation discussion list during 2017 and generated much interest.

So what would a systems informed Outcome Harvest look like?  What would be the same or different about it?

This highly interactive session will explore that question based using a case study of an application in Afghanistan.
