Session Abstract (150 words):
Are you transitioning from US-based to international development? Are you committed to making the world a better place through evaluation? Do you have concerns and questions about branching out into this field? Certain issues and challenges are inherent, although not exclusive, to international evaluation. They include culture and gender issues, language barriers, cultural competence, and international-national team dynamics. There also tends to be less direct engagement with data collection and different protocol standards. And evaluations in the international sector tend to concentrate on certain ‘popular’ sectors, such as agriculture, energy, water, basic health and hygiene, education. At the roundtable, the above issues will discussed, as well as the types of skills that are transferable from US-based to international development.
