Session Abstract:

What is Good Enough Evidence? Designing Fit-For- Purpose Evaluations

This international panel will consider what it means for evaluations to be fit-for- purpose when they are undertaken to support social programs, social enterprises, and impact investing. In these diverse contexts, an often pursued standard of quality is the generation of “good enough” information. For some, the standard represents an ideal, for others a compromise. The panelists come from different parts of the world (US, UK, and New Zealand) and different disciplinary traditions (social sciences, accounting, economics). They will share their criteria for judging whether evidence is good enough, and the practical challenges they face putting their criteria into action.
