The proposed think tank session brings evaluators from across the healthcare professions education ecosystem together to discuss the creation of an Evaluation in Health Professions Education Topical Interest Group (EHPE TIG). Evaluators in colleges of Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dentistry (among others) face a number of unique challenges that sets EHPE apart from our colleagues in other areas of health and higher education evaluation. The facilitators will begin by distinguishing the proposed EHPE TIG from similar TIGS, and outlining the emerging need for evaluators in health professions education to have a dedicated group of colleagues who understand the issues relevant to their specific work. Breakout groups will then work together to brainstorm key topics such as (1) TIG leadership and organization, (2) Mission statement and goals, and (3) proposed role in the broader AEA community. The session will conclude with a large-group reflection on these topics and concrete next steps.
