Track: Data Visualization and Reporting
Session Type: Skill-Building Workshop
First Author or Discussion Group Leader: Chris Lysy [Systems Analyst - Westat]
Time: Nov 12, 2015 (03:00 PM - 04:30 PM)
Room: Columbus KL

Audience Level: Intermediate, Advanced

Session Abstract:

Are visuals central to the navigation of your evaluation report?  Will the format of your report change when read on a tablet or smartphone?  Does your report adapt to meet the needs of different stakeholders?  Do you know which pieces of your report are being read and shared?  Can you follow-up with those readers?

Why not?

In today’s digital world our evaluation reports are read on screens of all sizes.  Yet we continue to optimize the reports strictly for print, missing out on some key features of an HTML-based approach.

In this session, attendees will work through a series of paper and pencil exercises designed to introduce important concepts central to high quality digital design.  They will also be shown how they can create their own digital reports using free or inexpensive blogging, email and design software.
