Session Abstract:

The utilization of data dashboards in processes related to program evaluation has rapidly increased in recent years. Not only can these visualizations be used to evaluate program outcomes, when designed appropriately, they can also be used as effective tools to monitor program fidelity and performance and to transform program implementation data into actionable knowledge for quality improvement. Using dashboards developed for a youth violence prevention program as an example, presenters from Youth Guidance will demonstrate 1) how to design interactive dashboards to ensure data quality and to visualize program implementation as an on-going process; 2) how to visualize data at desired levels of granularity without losing the big picture, so that information can be effectively conveyed to different audiences; 3) how interactive dashboards can be used to improve program quality; 4) challenges in designing and implementing these data dashboards; 5) pros and cons of existing data visualization tools in developing dashboards.
