Session Abstract (150 words):

AEA has hosted a series of dialogue events to engage the evaluation community in thinking deeply about race and class in America; and where and how they intersect evaluation practice. Through continued dialogue, evaluators can discern ways to proactively engage these entrenched issues, and end the paralysis many have felt as the nation goes from one headline making race/class incident to the next. An opening plenary session will review what was attempted and accomplished through the dialogue series. The goal of this session is to engage in further exploration of the issues and opportunities, engaging participants in:

  1. Continuing to explore themes from online discussions during and after the Dialogues,
  2. Submitting suggestions of actionable strategies that can be shared with AEA leadership, and
  3. Discussing additional ways AEA can focus on these important issues.
