Learning Outcomes (PD Workshops): how each of the five SDOH areas can inform CRE practice for evaluators of health related programs, initiatives, and policies.
Session Abstract (150 words):
Culturally responsive evaluation (CRE) is a framework that centers culture and cultural context in the theory, design, and practice of evaluation1,2. CRE recognizes that factors such as demographics, sociopolitical perspectives, location, and cultural and contextual dimensions are essential in evaluation3. Social determinants of health (SDOH) are social and environmental factors affecting an individual’s health and quality of life4. Healthy People 2020 (HP2020) uses an organizing framework that reflects five key SDOH areas: neighborhood and built environment, health and healthcare, education, social and community context, and economic stability. HP2020 emphasizes the importance of addressing the SDOH in creating environments that promote good health and access to quality healthcare for every individual. The presenters will explore, through examples/case studies, how each of the five SDOH areas can inform CRE practice for evaluators of health related programs, initiatives, and policies.
